Dreamy monsters

checked out PROOF: Contemporary Australian Printmaking out and fell in love with the work of  Milan Milojevic – digital collage of old woodcut prints depicting hybrid monsters. There are a few things i like

  • the approach to monster making as the combining of real parts in an unreal way
  • the shifting of scale – particularly in the plant structures adding to the unreal dream like quality of the work
  • the soft velvet effect of when blacks and reds combine
  • the aesthetic of 19th woodcuts and the dreamy effect they have on me
